Day 1

West Point

West Point Military Academy –  Less than 50 miles north of New York City, along the banks of the Hudson River, the USMA has been educating, training, and inspiring leaders of character for more than 200 years. George Washington, Robert E. Lee, U.S. Grant, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight Eisenhower and even Benedict Arnold all have walked these grounds and contributed to West Point’s story. The fantastic tour highlights the pageantry and history and magnificent scenery.

Dinner at Poughkeepsie Ice House – Before refrigeration, ice was harvested from the Hudson River and hauled in massive blocks from the river on elevators powered by steam engines. The ice was stored in ice houses, such as the Poughkeepsie Ice House, that lined the Hudson River. Now a modern award-winning restaurant, the Ice House has honored its history while creating a delightful dining experience!

Day 2

FDR Presidential Library and Home – “All that is within me cries out to go back to my home on the Hudson River” – FDR. Overlooking the Hudson River, the home and library make a wonderful day of exploration of our only president elected to three terms. It is the only place in the United States where a President was born, maintained a lifelong connection, and lies buried.

Hudson River Cruise – Enjoy clear views of historic Hudson River lighthouses, waterfront mansions, and other notable sites aboard the Rip Van Winkle. This narrated sightseeing cruise is a wonderful way to experience the river!

Walkway Over The Hudson – A stunning panorama unfolds high above the Hudson River at the center of Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, with opportunities to explore in every direction. Your Walkway specialist will help point out all the amazing sites along the longest pedestrian river crossing!

Tour and Dinner Culinary Institute of America  – America’s premiere culinary school opens up for you.  A tour illuminates just how hard these students work on this beautiful campus along the Hudson River.  And dinner is an elegant meal designed, prepared and served by the students!

Kykuit

Day 3

Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate – is a preeminent Hudson Valley landmark. For architecture, remarkable gardens, art, history, and spectacular scenery, a trip to Kykuit is simply amazing. This 2.5 hour tour covers so much!

Union Church of Pocantico Hills – Stained-glass windows by European masters, commissioned by the Rockefeller family, adorn this unassuming country church. Henri Matisse’s last work, the Rose Window, and nine windows by Marc Chagall create a dramatic combination of light and color, art and spirituality.
